چکیده

The differential cross section for γ-deuteron Compton scattering is computed to next-to-leading order (NLO) in an effective field theory that describes nucleon-nucleon interactions below the pion production threshold. Contributions at NLO include the nucleon isoscalar electric polarizability from its 1/mπ behavior in the chiral limit. The parameter free prediction of the γdeuteron differential cross section at NLO is in good agreement with data. Tensor Polarized γ-Deuteron Compton Scattering in Effective Field Theory

The differential cross section for γ-deuteron Compton scattering from a tensor polarized deuteron is computed in an effective field theory. The first non-vanishing contributions to this differential cross section are the interference terms between the leading electric coupling diagrams and the subleading single potential pion exchange diagrams or the subleading magnetic moment coupling diagrams...

The Two-Nucleon Sector with Effective Field Theory

I present the results obtained for several observables in the two-nucleon sector using effective field theory with KSW power-counting and dimensional regularization. In addition to the phase shifts for nucleon-nucleon scattering, several deuteron observables are discussed, including electromagnetic form factors, polarizabilities, γd → γd Compton scattering, and np → dγ. A detailed comparison be...

Deuteron Compton Scattering: A Random Walk

In this sketch, some recent developments in Compton scattering off the deuteron are reviewed. The strong energy-dependence of the scalar magnetic dipole polarisability βM1 turns out to be crucial to understand the data from Saskatoon at 94 MeV. Chiral Effective Field Theory is used to extract the static iso-scalar dipole polarisabilities as ᾱs = 12.6± 1.4stat ± 1.0wavefu and β̄ s = 2.3± 1.7stat ...

The S-Wave Pion-Nucleon Scattering Lengths from Pionic Atoms using Effective Field Theory

The pion-deuteron scattering length is computed to next-to-next-to-leading order in baryon chiral perturbation theory. A modified power-counting is then formulated which properly accounts for infrared enhancements engendered by the large size of the deuteron, as compared to the pion Compton wavelength. We use the precise experimental value of the real part of the pion-deuteron scattering length...

Using EFT to analyze low-energy Compton scattering from protons and light nuclei

We discuss the application of an effective field theory (EFT) which incorporates the chiral symmetry of QCD to Compton scattering from the proton and deuteron. We describe the chiral EFT analysis of the γp scattering database presented in our recent review [1], which gives: α E1 = 10.5± 0.5(stat)± 0.8(theory) , β (p) M1 = 2.7± 0.5(stat)± 0.8(theory), for the electric and magnetic dipole polariz...
